Growing up in Fort McMurray, you learn two things early: winters are brutal, and life is better when it's got a little fire in it.

Brothers Jake and Cole grew up in a household where hot sauce wasn't a condiment — it was a personality. Their dad kept a shelf above the stove lined with every bottle he could find, and the two of them spent their childhood daring each other to try the hottest ones. Jake always went first. Cole always pretended it didn't hurt.

After years of working the oil patch and spending long stretches away from home, both brothers came back to Fort Mac with the same restless energy and the same question: now what?

The answer showed up at a backyard cookout in the summer of 2022. Jake had been messing around with a mango-chili sauce he'd been tweaking for months, and when he brought it out for the ribs, it was gone before the second rack came off the grill. Someone said, “You need to bottle this.” Cole looked at Jake. Jake looked at Cole. And just like that, the dare was on.

They spent the next year testing recipes at their mom's kitchen table — neighbours and friends as unwilling taste-testers, with way too much feedback and not enough napkins. Cole handled the business side, Jake obsessed over the flavours. Neither of them slept much.

The name came naturally. Fort McMurray sits in the thick of the boreal forest, a place most people only know for its toughness. A cobra doesn't announce itself before it strikes — and neither does Cobra Dip. The heat finds you.

Cobra Dip launched with five flavors — each one a reflection of something the brothers loved: the boldness of Classic Chili, the island vibes of Caribbean, the sweetness of Mango Pride, the comfort of Honey Garlic, and the wildcard energy of Blueberry Pancake (that one's all Jake).

Everything is still small batch. Every bottle is still made with real ingredients and no shortcuts. And the shelf above the stove? It's got a whole lot more Cobra Dip on it now.
